AT THE INTERSECTION OF THEORY AND PRACTICE

ephemer – Journal for Performance and Theater Research seeks to address a significant gap in the dissemination of research at the intersection of theoretical and practice-based approaches in the arts and humanities. As a forum for outstanding, innovative, and interdisciplinary scholarship, the journal aims to actively shape both contemporary and historiographical discourses in the broad field of the performing arts. Its primary focus lies in publishing both scholarly essays and artistic research contributions. ephemer combines critical, multilingual originality with theoretical precision while simultaneously opening space for experimental artistic perspectives. This dual approach fosters a profound engagement at the interface between theory and practice, offering new insights that promise to enrich international discourse not only in performance and theater studies but also in cultural studies and curatorial research.

INTERNATIONALITY THROUGH MULTILINGUALISM

In addition to fostering a dynamic exchange between scholarly and artistic research, ephemer adopts an innovative multilingual publication model. All contributions are published both in the author’s original language and in English translation, ensuring maximum international reach. This approach not only preserves the linguistic particularities of each research contribution but also opens up new perspectives for readers by engaging with diverse intellectual and cultural contexts. By actively promoting multilingualism, ephemer positions itself not merely as an academic forum but as a politically and culturally engaged platform—one that challenges linguistic hegemony and advocates for intellectual diversity in global scholarly discourse.

OPEN SCIENCE THROUGH OPEN ACCESS

ephemer not only promotes multilingualism in theoretical and artistic research but also facilitates unrestricted access to its published work. To reach the widest possible audience and readership while actively participating in the ideals of Open Science, ephemer is published both in print and as a digital open-access edition.
